‘Within Blue’ is a continuation of ‘Places I Have Never Been’, developed through a camera-less process using cyanotype instead of Van Dyke Brown. The shift in material introduces a new visual world, in which colour fundamentally shapes how the image is experienced.

Compared to the warmer tonal range of Van Dyke Brown, cyanotype offers a reduced spectrum of blue. In my practice, this shift transforms the image into something more abstract and open, where traditional cues of depth and space become less stable. Light and dark no longer define space in a fixed way, and different readings of foreground and background can emerge within the same image.

As a result, each work can appear as a shifting world of its own, where colour does not describe space, but actively creates it.
